Social Equity Benefits

Social equity helps ensure everybody benefits from the power of trees to fulfil our basic needs, such as breathing fresh air and drinking clean water. 

Trees are vital to the health, wealth and climate resiliency of all the people who live in our city.

Tree Equity is a moral imperative, not just an environmental issue. 
The wealth of a neighbourhood can be determined by its amount of tree canopy.

A map of tree cover in our city is a map of ‘’haves and have-nots’’ where trees are sparse in low-income neighbourhoods. 
In Cape Town we need to find ways to change this inequity.
