Social Equity Benefits

Trees are vital to the health, wealth and climate resiliency of all people who live in cities.

Social equity helps ensure everybody benefits from the power of trees to fulfil our basic needs, such as breathing fresh air and drinking clean water. 

The wealth of a neighbourhood can be determined by its amount of tree canopy.
We know that a map of tree cover in our city is a map of ‘’haves and have-nots’’ where trees are sparse in low-income neighbourhoods.

Tree Equity is a moral imperative, not just an environmental issue.

We need to find ways to change this inequity.
