Help Us Conserve Our Urban Forest
TreeKeepers Cape Town is a citizen-based association committed to conserving
the urban forest in our city landscape – by promoting the value of trees,
empowering South African citizens in their stewardship, and building community.
It has formed a relationship with the City of Cape Town’s Recreation & Parks Department to help safeguard the city’s urban forest, guided by a Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoU).
Concerned citizens came together to form TreeKeepers, a voluntary association,
in order to protect trees in Cape Town’s urban forest after an indiscriminate felling
of majestic street trees occurred without adequate public consultation.
